Captain Edward J. Hogan Jr.

Captain Hogan was born and raised in suburban Philadelphia and graduated from West Philadelphia Catholic High School in 1950. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy and was commissioned an Ensign in June 1954. He went directly into Naval Aviation and completed Flight Training in May 1956.

Subsequent duty assignments were: Landing Signal Officer and Safety Officer in Fighter Squadron 33 on USS INTREPID (CVA-11) from 1956 to 1959; student at 1960; Flying Qualities and Performance Project Test Pilot in the Flight Test Division, Naval Air Test Center, Patuxent River, Maryland, 1961-62; Aide and Flag Lieutenant to Commander Carrier Division FOUR in 1963; student, Command and Staff Course, Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island, 1964; Senior Landing Signal Officer, Carrier Air Wing EIGHT on USS FORRESTAL (CVA-59) and USS SHANGRILA (CVA-38), 1965-66; Operations Officer, Carrier Air Wing Nine, 1967; and Executive/ Commander Naval Air Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet in 1970; Operations Officer, USS KITTY HAWK (CVA-63), 1971-72; Head Medium and Long Range Plans and Policy Branch in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, 1973-74.

Captain Hogan commanded USS KAWISHIWI (AO-146) from 23 September 1974 to 23 January 1975. He then attended the Senior Officers Ships Material Readiness Course in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Captain Hogan's individual awards include the Bronze Star with Combat V, Distinguished Service Medal, and Air Medal.

Captain Hogan, his wife Linda, and sons Timothy, Michael, Gregory and Steven are residing at 821 Balboa Ave. , Coronado, California.

Commander Hubbard was graduated in June 1967 from the Command and Staff Course of the Naval War College. He reported to Fighter Squadron 62 as Executive Officer in October 1967. He subsequently took Command of VF-62 in August 1968. In 1969, Commander Hubbard was assigned to the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Strategic Plans and Policy Division. He served as Commander Carrier Air Wing NINETEEN onboard USS ORISKANY from May 1971 to June 1972.

In July 1973, he graduated from the national War College, Washington, D.C., and received the Master of Arts degree International Affairs from George Washington University. Captain Hubbard assumed Command of USS PONCHATOULA (AO-148) in September 1973, and was relieved in February 1975.

Captain Hubbard has been awarded the Legion of Merit with Combat "V", the Air Medal with Numeral fourteen in lieu of the second through fourteenth awards and the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat "V" and stars in lieu of second through fourth awards for combat in South East Asia.
