Captain Foster S. Teague, the son of Mrs. A. R. Teague and the late Mr. A. R. Teague of Bossier City, Louisiana, was born in Bossier City, Louisiana, on 21 November 1934. After graduating from Bossier High School in 1952, Captain Teague attended Texas A&M University where he received a BBA Degree in 1956.
Captain Teague reported to NAS Pensacola, Florida, on September 26, 1956 as an Aviation Officer Candidate and was commissioned a U.S. Navy Ensign in February 1957. Commencing flight training that month at NAS Saufley Field, he received his Navy Wings of Gold and was designated a Naval Aviator in March 1958. Captain Teague reported to VF-211 in April 1958 for training in the F11F-1 fighter and joined VF-211 at NAS Moffett Field in December 1958. Since that time Captain Teague has had squadron tours of duty in VF-24, VF-124(2), VF-51(2), VF-111 and VX-4 and completed eight WESTPAC cruises embarked in USS LEXINGTON, TICONDEROGA, ORISKANY, INTREPID, BON HOMME RICHARD, CORAL SEA, KITTY HAWK, and KAWISHIWI (AO-146). He has commanded VF-111 Det 11, VF-51, CVW-11 (USS KITTY HAWK) and USS KAWISHIWI was awarded the Battle Efficiency "E" and the Golden Anchor. Other duty assignments include Aide and Flag Lieutenant to RADM R. E. Riera (COMALSEAFRON) and in the Office of Legislative Affairs (OPNAV). Prior to assuming his present command Captain Teague was Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, U.S. Seventh Fleet.
He has over 5000 accident free flight hours, 423 combat missions (Vietnam) during four combat cruises, 873 carrier arrested landings in five aircraft models, and is credited with one MIG destroyed in Aerial Combat. His decorations include the Silver Star (2), Distinguished Flying Cross (6), Bronze Star (Combat "V"), Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (39), Navy Commendation Medal (5), Purple Heart, and various unit and theater awards.
Captain Teague has three children, Mark - 25, Matt - 23, and Rachel - 15. He is proud to be married to Sam (Gould) Teague, the daughter of Mrs. E. A. Gould and the late Mr. E.A. Gould of Los Angeles, California.
