Rear Admiral Allen G. Myers

A 1978 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and a northern Virginia native, Rear Admiral Al Myers is the Deputy Director for Requirements, Assessments Division (OPNAV N81D).

Rear Adm. Myers recently completed a tour as the Executive Assistant to the Commander in Chief, U.S. Atlantic Fleet/Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command. Prior to that he had command of USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63), permanently forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, and deployed to the western Pacific. In April 2000, he completed command of USS Sacramento (AOE 1). Sacramento deployed to the western Pacific and Arabian Gulf with the Constellation Battle Group, and was awarded the Battle 'E' and CNO Safety 'S' under his command. In December 1994, he completed command of Fighter Squadron Thirty-Two (VF-32), flying F-14 Tomcats onboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69). VF-32 deployed to Bosnia and the Arabian Gulf, and was awarded the Battle 'E', the Clifton Award, and the Fleet Fighter Adversary Readiness Program (FFARP) Trophy under his command.

Prior squadron and sea tours in the F-14 Tomcat include: VF-143; VF-14; and VF-101. He also deployed with VF-103 onboard USS Saratoga (CV 60) and USS Forrestal (CV 59) in the F-4 Phantom.

Tours ashore have also included: Organizational Policy Branch Chief in the Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate, J-5, Joint Staff; Deputy Executive Assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations; Deputy Special Assistant to the Chief of Naval Personnel for Flag Officer Matters; and Chief Staff Officer, Fighter Wings Atlantic.

He is a 1988 graduate of the Naval Command and Staff College, and holds Masters degrees in National Security Affairs from the Naval War College and Salve Regina University.

Rear Adm. Myers has accumulated more than 3,500 flight hours and over 890 arrested landings. Decorations include: the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (four awards), Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Air Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (two awards) and Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), in addition to various campaign and unit awards.
