Using the Kitty Hawk for disaster response

    in Everything Else

I periodically drive past the Kitty Hawk in Bremerton. It has been my opinion that single best location for a FEMA management location would be on a retired carrier. The supporting arguments are extensive. It would survive most any catastrophe; it's mobile, aircraft can launch and land there; it can make huge amounts of power and water; it can work as a logistics and communications hub; it could serve many uses when not responding to emergencies. The list goes on.

I totally agree. Now what we need is those in power to understand what a great idea this is.

If she was in operating readiness would be a blessing in northwest Florida with the storm victims.

Whether using the Hawk for relief services or for a museum as long she is kept out of the scrap yard. If she was put back in service if I was able I would like to in the boile/machine room getting her where she needed to go. BT3 Lyda

I hear you loud and clear brother, but when talking to some former command from our girl, I got the sense that because of the name Kitty Hawk is associated to the "Race Riot", they want Her to go away! So regardless of the long history and service record, they'd rather cut our Battle Cat to pieces and fill someone's pockets $$$$$$ then let Her spend a new lifetime feedng young minds and sharing an unparalleled past for those who would come to see Her!!!

Okay, so IIgigatt I know this post was from over a year ago, but yes it would, but it could also serve well as a homeless shelter for our veterans in crisis as well, so maybe back to a Multi-purpose ship

I know I’m like over a thousand K/H veterans, we all want to see her kept out of the scrap yard. If we can’t make a museum out of her put her back to work. Disaster relief, homeless shelter for veterans the possibilities go on and on. It would not be a overnight readiness but in the long run I feel it would be worth it. I spent 3 1/2 years in one of the main spaces so that would be a major job getting one or more of the 4 operational. Don’t know if the government will see fit to keep her alive and floating but just hope so. Time will tell.🇺🇸
